Narrative Strategist / Documentary Storyteller
The Practice
The work begins with listening to people, to systems, and to the stories organisations carry but may not yet know how to tell.
From there comes understanding: looking closely at what is happening, why it matters, and how it connects to the wider context. Then comes interpretation; making sense of what has been seen and heard, and shaping it into meaning organisations can act on. Kondwani Jere works across health, agriculture, development, conservation, and public-interest work to bring care and clarity to that process.
Only then does the work turn to communication. Photography and film may become part of the process, alongside interviews, written essays, knowledge products, and communications strategy. The medium changes. The responsibility remains the same.
Selected Work
The public work spans documentary photography, film and strategic storytelling each shaped by field listening, written interpretation, and careful representation made visible through long-form stories.
The Approach
01
Listen before you frame
Good work begins with the willingness to not understand yet.
02
Access is earned, not assumed
Relationships come before requests. Context comes before perspective.
03
Dignity is a practice, not a policy
It shapes how you enter a room, what you choose to show, and what you choose to leave out.

Bringing in the sheaves : A story of the harvest

The best documentary work leaves the viewer with the sense that they have been introduced to a human being not a type, not a symbol, not a problem. That feeling does not happen by accident.
